PAXTON, Mass.—The Anna Maria College Athletic Department has named Lawrence Sasso the Head Softball Coach as announced by Athletic Director, Serge DeBari on Monday morning. Sasso joins the Anna Maria community following three years serving as the head junior varsity baseball coach at Nipmuc Regional High School in Upton, Mass.

EAST BOSTON – The Anna Maria College softball team dropped two Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) contests with the Rams of Suffolk University on Saturday afternoon. The Rams took a 9-1 victory in game one and a 14-2 victory in five innings in game two. The loss drops the AMCATS to 4-24 on the season and 2-16 in the conference while the Rams improve to 21-14 and 13-6.

Newton, Mass. – The Anna Maria College softball team dropped a pair of Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) games to the Lasers of Lasell College on Friday afternoon. The Lasers took a close 3-2 victory in game one before notching an 11-2 victory in game two. The AMCATS fall to 4-24 on the season and 2-16 in conference play while the Lasers improve to 6-26 overall and 2-16 in the GNAC.

Worcester, Mass. – The Anna Maria College softball dropped a pair of Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) games to the visiting Mustangs of Mount Ida College on Sunday evening at Worcester Polytechnic Institute. The visitors took an 11-1 victory in game one before earning a 15-0 shutout in game two. The losses drop the AMCATS to 4-22 overall and 2-14 in the GNAC while the Mustangs improve to 11-16 overall and 5-9 in the conference.

The Cadets took a 6-0 victory in game one before the AMCATS took game two with a final score of 8-7. This series brings the AMCATS to 4-18 overall and 2-10 in the conference while the Cadets move to 6-15-1 on the season and 6-6 in the GNAC.

STANDISH, Maine – Saint Joseph’s College (7-9, 4-2 GNAC) posted a pair of mercy-rule victories over Anna Maria College (3-15, 1-7 GNAC) in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) softball action at Richard W. Bailey Field on Sunday afternoon. The Monks defeated the AMCATS 9-1 in the opener and swept the two-game set with an 11-3 triumph in the closing contest.

BOSTON, Mass. – Bridget Garach picked up her first collegiate win and knocked in two runs to help the Simmons College softball team to a 9-3 victory over visiting Anna Maria College in game one of a Great Northeast Athletic Conference doubleheader. Senior Kaitlyn Moran (Leicester, Mass.) tossed a six-inning shutout to lead the AMCATS to a 9-0 win in the nightcap over the Sharks. Simmons is now 8-11 overall, including 3-3 in league play, while Anna Maria is now 3-13 and 1-5.

The win lifts Albertus Magnus to 11-5 overall and 2-0 in the GNAC while Anna Maria falls to 2-12 on the season and 0-4 in conference play.
