Records: Eastern Conn. State (4-1), Anna Maria College (1-3-1)

The Lead: The Eastern Connecticut State University men's soccer team extended its scoreless streak to 288 minutes by posting its third straight home shutout in a 2-0 non-conference victory over Anna Maria College Wednesday afternoon at Thomas Nevers Field.

How It Happened:

Ryan Murphy started his third straight shutout in goal for Eastern, giving way to freshman Kyle Boutot with 6:30 left after the Warriors were finally able to add an insurance goal with eight minutes left. Murphy, who needed only one save, has not allowed a goal since Cortland, lowering his goals-against average to 0.20. In his debut, Boutot was not called upon for a save.

Justin Grant's first goal of the year with 14 minutes gone lifted Eastern into a 1-0 lead, but despite dominating with a final shot advantage of 19-3, the Warriors could not widen their margin until Adam Traxler scored his second goal of the season inside the final ten minutes.

JD Stearns began the scoring drive on the first goal. He carried before laying off to Griffin Luczek, who cut into the box and cross the ball from the right side to Grant, who boomed a 12-yarder from the left side past keeper Jeffre Donahue.

Sam Hurlburt's perfect line-drive cross from the right side found Traxler unmarked at the left post, and he volleyed it hard past Donahue from close range.

Freshman goalkeeper for Anna Maria, Jeffre Donahue (Rockland, Mass.) made five saves in the loss and falls to 0-2-1 on the season.
