Rams Charge to 4-1 Win over Men's Soccer

PAXTON, Mass.—The Framingham State University men's soccer team scored four first-half goals en route to a 4-1 win over the AMCATS of Anna Maria College on Tuesday evening in non-conference action.

With the win, Framingham improves to 5-4, while the loss drops Anna Maria to 1-6-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Rams outshot the AMCATS 13-3 in the first half and 23-9 overall to claim the victory. The visitors wasted little time, as they scored their first goal in the 15th minute and took a 2-0 lead 1:50 later.

Anna Maria scored their lone goal of the game in the 61st minute.

SCORING

Framingham's Lucas Medeiros scored off of a Rams' corner kick at the 14:47 mark, striking the ball into the bottom right corner. Less than two minutes later, Jeffrey Braverman shot, collected his own rebound, and fired again into the top right corner of the net to put the Rams up 2-0.

In the 27th minute, Braverman scored again as he redirected a direct-kick by teammate Jonathan Parker. The Rams would extend their lead to 4-0 in the 43rd minute las Gerardo Ramirez passed from the right side of the field to the center, where teammate Ken Stahovish was waiting to one-touch it in for his third goal of the season.

Anna Maria tallied the only goal of the second half as senior Christopher Mattioli (Sturbridge, Mass.) fed freshman Gift Kalombo (Worcester, Mass.) for the open look score.

GOALKEEPERS

Anna Maria netminder Mark Robinshaw (Ashford, Conn.) turned aside eight shots in defeat, while Framingham's Corey Davidge earned the victory with a two-save performance in the first half. He was relieved by a Jesse Guillette and Dennis Siaw, who saw 14 and 31 minutes, respectively. Saiw recorded two saves and allowed the AMCAT goal.

The AMCATS resume Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) play on Friday as they travel to Norwich University for a 4:00 p.m. start.
