Men's Hockey Falls to a Draw with SUNY Canton, 1-1

CANTON, NY: The Men's Ice Hockey team ended their game versus SUNY Canton this evening in an overtime draw, 1-1.  

 THE BASICS:

- Date: 1/31/2020

Score: Anna Maria 1, Canton 1

Records: Canton (9-6-3), Anna Maria (10-6-5)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The AMCATS took the lead early in the first period just five minutes in. Anna Maria captain Patrick Manning (Messena, NY) scored his fifth goal of the season after receiving a pass from Freshmen Patrik Peltola (Espoo, Finland).  

-  The game would remain with the 'CATS holding the 1-0 lead into the third period. 13:24 into the third the Kangaroos brought the score even at 1-1, on a goal from Jake Mayette.

-  Both tenders accumulated a high number of saves, starting with Canton goalie Austin Washkurak who saw 29 shots and saved 28. Julius Huset (Oakdale, MN) tallied a season high 43 saves after facing 44 shots.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- Anna Maria was outshot 44 to 29 throughout the contest. 

-  The Kangaroos finished with 12 minutes in the penalty box on 6 infractions. While the AMCATS had 14 minutes on 7 infractions.

-  Both teams finished without a score on a power play opportunity. Anna Maria was 0-for-5 and Canton was 0-for-6.
