Men's Hockey Draws Even with Westfield State

Men's Hockey Draws Even with Westfield State

AUBURN, MASS: The Anna Maria Men's Hockey team concluded their contest this evening against Westfield State in a 1-1 draw at Horgan Arena.

 THE BASICS:

- Date: 1/22/2020

Score: Anna Maria 1, Westfield State 1

Records: Westfield (7-4-5), Anna Maria (9-5-4)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  There were only two total goals scored throughout this contest, the first came in the second from the Owls. They were able to break the 0-0 score on a low shot that never left the ice from straight away. AMCATS tender Julius Huset (Oakdale, MN) appeared to be screened and never saw the puck as it made its way passed him.

-  Anna Maria tied the game up at one all, on a power play goal by Patrick Peltola (Espoo, Finland). Peltola received the pass from teammates Sam Cyr-Ledoux (Montreal, QC) and Patrick Manning (Messena, NY) just off to the Owl tenders left side and let it rip. The puck hit a defenseman for Westfield and redirected itself into the top left corner of the net.

- The remainder of the game was very evenly matched and ended in OT with the score knotted at 1-1.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Thierry Messervier faced 39 shots in which he saved 38 of those.

-  Huset saw 34 shots come his way as he was able to save 33.

-  Anna Maria finished the game 1-2 on the power play, with the Owls going 0-2.
