Men's Hockey Skates Past Southern Maine

AUBURN, MASS: The Anna Maria Men's Hockey team improved their record to 4-1-2 on the season after another win this evening against Southern Maine University, 2-1.  

 THE BASICS:

- Date: 11/19/2019

Score: Anna Maria 2, Southern Maine 1

Records: SMU (0-5), Anna Maria (4-1-2)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The AMCATS started the scoring off with just 3:45 left in the first period. Will McGoughran (Brunswick, OH) forced a Huskie turnover and found an open Gavin Proeh (Highland Park, IL) who passed the puck to a streaking Sam Cyr-Ledoux (Montreal QC) for the finish.  

-  The Huskies didn't stay down for very long as they got on the board with 2:51 left in the first. Ethan Bassile Finished on a beautiful cross to the backside post from Curtis Judd.  

-  With 13:50 left to play in the third the AMCATS refused to go into their third straight overtime period when Jack Sitzman (Redondo Beach, CA) stole the puck away and got a one on one with the Husky tender. Sitzman made a few puck handling moves to then sneak the puck past his outstretched skate to the left.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  The AMCATS were outshot by Southern Maine 27-23.

-  Anthony D'Aloisio (L, 0-3) faced 23 shots saving 21.

-  Julius Huset (Oakdale, MN) (W, 2-0-1) saved 26 of the 27 shots that he faced.

- The Huskies tallied 10 minutes in the box on 5 infractions.

- The AMCATS finished with 11 minutes on just 4 infractions.

- Both Clubs were 0-for on the power play in tonight's contest, SMU was 0-for-5, with Anna Maria 0-for-4.

UP NEXT:

- Anna Maria returns to action on the 26th when they make the short trip to the Fidelity Worcester Ice Center to take on Worcester State at 3:40 PM.
