Perette Joins the 1,000 Point Club in Loss to Colby-Sawyer

NEW LONDON, NH: The Anna Maria Men's Basketball team fell to GNAC opponent this afternoon, 77-76 on a last second jumper. Senior Bobby Perette (Marshfield, MA) reached 1,000 Points in his career this afternoon as well.  

 THE BASICS:

- Date: 2/1/2020

Score: Colby-Sawyer 77, Anna Maria 76

Records: C-SC (9-10, 3-2 GNAC), Anna Maria (6-13, 3-3 GNAC)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The Chargers opened up the contest on a 17-4 run eating away at the first nine minutes of the ball game. The AMCATS answered with a 13-0 run to tie it up at 17 all.

- After the first two runs, the remainder of the half was basket for basket and after being up 17-4 early on Colby-Sawyer only took a two-point lead into the locker room with the score being 32-30.

-  The second half started with the Chargers extending their lead to six before Anna Maria closed the gap again. Colby-Sawyer held a narrow lead until the 8:56 mark when Perette gave the AMCATS the lead after making a layup with the score now being 56-55.  

- The 'CATS advantage didn't last long as the Chargers took it right back and held it until they were knotted back up at 65-65 with just 5:29 left in the half.

- The two teams sat at 65 all for a minute before Jakai Alexandre (Fitchburg, MA) hit the go ahead free throw to bump AMC to a 66-65 score.

- The AMCATS extended their lead to the largest that they held in the game on a made 3-Point shoot by Perette.

- The last two minutes were back and forth with Colby-Sawyer having a slight advantage, with five lead changes just in the last 59 seconds alone. The dagger came with four seconds left when Patrick Coffey hit a turnaround jumper in the paint to put the Chargers up 77-76. That ultimately would be the final of the contest. 
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Coffey ended with a team high of 18 points for his squad along with 6 rebounds and 3 assists.

-  Alexandre had a game high 24 points for the AMCATS, he also tallied 5 rebounds and 7 assists.

-  Perette Finished with 19 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 steals.

- Anna Maria returns to action on Tuesday against Saint Joseph's College, game time is set for 7:00 Pm.
