2019 Men's Basketball Preview
PAXTON, MA - The Anna Maria men's basketball season is not far off as the squad kicks off the season Saturday, November 9 at 4 PM at Babson College. The 'Cats will look to build off last season's 7-18 record and compete for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) playoff spot.
WHAT TO LOOK FORWARD TO
- Top scorers, Mike Rapoza (Charlton, MA) and Bobby Perette (Marshfield, MA) return for the AMCATS after leading the team with 17.4 and 15.1 points per game respectively.
- Rapoza was the only AMCAT last season to average a double-double (17.4 points, 11.8 rebounds).
- Head Coach, Shawn Conrad needs four more GNAC wins to become the second coach in Anna Maria men's basketball history with 100 conference wins (Paul Philips, 103).
- Kennedy Minix-Rogers (Smyrna, GA) and his 3.9 assists per game return to help pace the AMCATS offense.
- Seniors John Dombrowski (Leominster, MA), Joseph Holmes (Shirley, MA), Perette, and Rapoza will be relied upon to help guide Anna Maria throughout the season.
GAMES TO WATCH
- The home opener is on Tuesday, November 19 at 6 PM versus Nichols College.
- Anna Maria's only home game in December is Friday, December 13 at 6 PM versus Mitchell College.
- The 'Cats first GNAC game is on Saturday, January 11 at 2 PM versus Norwich University.
- The squad will travel to GNAC powerhouse, Suffolk University on Saturday, November 18.
- Anna Maria's last home game and game of the regular season will be against eight-time GNAC champion, Albertus Magnus on Saturday, February 22 at 3 PM.
