GNAC QUARTERFINALS: No.4 Anna Maria Set To Take On No.5 Regis

PAXTON, MA - The fourth-seeded Anna Maria field hockey team (8-8, 4-4 GNAC) hosts the fifth-seeded Regis Pride (7-10, 4-4 GNAC) on Saturday, November 2 at 11 AM. Check out our preview for this weekend's matchup:

FIVE THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW

  • Anna Maria defeated Regis, 2-1 in overtime during their only contest this season on October 4.
  • The AMCATS have won the last three meetings against the Pride. Each victory was won by one goal, and two out of three went to overtime.
  • Saturday marks the first time both schools will meet in the GNAC playoffs.
  • After joining the conference in 2016, Regis makes its GNAC playoff debut after competing in the NECC since 2011.
  • Since taking over in 2015, head coach Brooke Brigham has made the GNAC playoffs each year. 

WHO TO WATCH FOR

  • Anne Melanson (Grafton, MA) and her six goals led the AMCATS this season. Melanson also has 47 points for her career which is good for a 10th place tie with alumni, Jen Hurley. 
  • Chayna Bingham-Hendricks (Mashpee, MA) registered a career-high, eight assists and paced the AMCATS offense on the year. 
  • After taking over in net after the seventh game, Hannah Tobey (Falmouth, MA) has been stellar for the 'Cats. Tobey finished the year with a 7-3 record, 50 saves, and a 1.24 Goals Against Average.
  • For the Pride, Sheridan Blaha (Waltham, MA) was the go-to on offense with 16 goals and 33 points on the year.
  • Nora Buck (Shawmut, ME) paced Regis for the season with her four assists.
  • Hope Winkin (Winslow, ME) was in net all year and finished with a 7-10 record. Winkin also stopped 82 shots and maintained a 1.95 Goals Against Average.

WHAT'S NEXT

The winner of Saturday's game will travel to one-seed, Saint Joesph's (ME) in the GNAC semi-finals on Wednesday, November 6 at a time to be determined later.
