Field Hockey Overthrows Pride

PAXTON, Mass: The Anna Maria Field Hockey team defeated the Pride of Regis College this afternoon 1-0 in conference action in Weston Massachusetts.

 

Regis (2-9, 1-4 GNAC) took nine shots with only six on goal. Aineen Callahan led the team in shots with three and one on goal. The Prides Goalie Hope Winkin had three saves on four shots and allowed just the one goal.

 

Anna Maria (6-6, 2-2 GNAC) put together ten shots in today's contest with just four on net. It was just three minutes into the second half when Lauren Lapierre (Worcester, Mass.) was able to find the back of the net off of a pass from Chayna Bingham-Hendricks (Mashpee, Mass.). AMCAT Goalie Cassandra Micklesavage (Pottstown, PA) got her second win in a row bringing her to 2-0 on the season. In the first shutout of Michlesavage's young career she was able to tally six saves.

 

The Pride will be back on the field this Tuesday at 7 PM as they play in another conference match against Simmons.

 

The AMCATS are back at home this Wednesday the 17th at 7 PM to play against Colby-Sawyer the newest member of the GNAC.
