Field Hockey Lashes Out Against Falcons

PAXTON, Mass: The Anna Maria Field Hockey team bested non-conference opponent Albertus Magnus College 12-0 this morning on AMCAT Field.

 

Anna Maria College (4-3, 1-1 GNAC), Albertus Magnus College (0-6)

 

First Half

 

AMCATS started off scorching hot, scoring three goals in the first four minutes of the game.    Junior Allyson Shaw (Holden, Mass) started off the scoring just 49 seconds into the game on a pass from Anne Melanson (Grafton, Mass).   The AMCATS would go on to score nine more goals to finish up the first half.  A total of seven Anna Maria players would find the back of the net throughout the half.

 

Second Half

 

The Falcons would get multiple shots off in the second half; however they were unable to score any goals.  Anna Maria didn't stop in the second half as they would get two more goals the first coming off the stick of Kristen Avery (Derby, Vermont) on a pass from Kassandra Long (Dedham, Mass) in the 50th minute of the game.  While the last goal of the game would come from Ashleigh Curll (Worcester, Mass.) on a swooping pass from Kassandra Long in the 68th minute. 

 

Goals and Assists

 

Brittney Cherry and Niamh Cote-   2 Goals Each

 

Lauren Lapierre (Worcester, Mass), Chayna Bingham- Hendricks (Mashpee, Mass), Abigayle Celata (Baldwinville, Mass), Kristen Avery, Allyson Shaw, Ashleigh Curll and Anne Melanson would all go on to score a goal throughout the game.

Allyson Shaw, Anne Melanson, Kassandra Long -   2 Assists Each

 

Next Up

 

The AMCATS next game will be on the road for a non-conference match at Bridgewater State on September 27th at 7PM. 

 

Albertus Magnus College will be back home on Thursday September 27th for a 4PM game against Regis.
