Field Hockey Victorious Against Rivier

Paxton, Mass: The Anna Maria field hockey team bested Rivier University this afternoon 2-1 in conference action in Nashua N.H.

 

The AMCATS (2-2, 1-1 GNAC) went up in the first half on an Abigayle Celata (Baldwinville, Mass.) goal in the 32nd minute as she was assisted by Allyson Shaw (Holden, Mass.).

 

Anna Maria extended their lead in the second half when Niamh Cote (Tewksbury, Mass.) scored her first goal of the season off of a pass by Chayna Bringham-Hendricks (Mashpee, Mass.).

 

Rivier (1-4, 0-2 GNAC) found the back of the net in the 59th minute off of Lindsey Roth's stick.

 

The Raiders outshot the AMCATS sixteen to fifteen with Rivier goalie Emily Foster compiling six saves in the contest dropping her record to 1-4.  

 

AMCAT goalie Nikki Streete (San Jose, CA) had five saves of her own in the Anna Maria victory improving her record to 2-2.

 

Rivier will continue their home stand as they play Elms College this Thursday the 20th at 7:00 PM.

 

As for Anna Maria they will be back at home this Tuesday the 18th against rival Becker college, game time is set for 7:00 PM.
