Field Hockey Earns NFHCA Division III National Academic Honors

PAXTON, Mass.— After earning a team GPA of 3.0 or higher the Anna Maria College field hockey team earned the Zag/NFHCA Division III National Academic Team Award along with placing 10 players on the Zag/NFHCA Division III National Academic Squad and one Scholar of distinction. The National Academic Team Award recognizes those institutions that achieved a minimum team grade point average of 3.0 during the first semester of the 2016-17 academic year.

WINTHROP, Mass. –Four Anna Maria Field Hockey players were named to a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) All-Conference team as voted upon by the league’s coaches. Senior Kaitlyn Moran (Leicester, Mass.) and junior Jacqueline Lapierre (Worcester, Mass.) were named to the All-Conference First Team while senior Emily Standring (Worcester, Mass.) was named to the All-Conference Second Team and defender Ashley George (Leicester, Mass.) was named to the All-Sportsmanship Team.

The AMCATS dropped a hard fought 1-0 battle to the Wildcats of Johnson& Wales University in the first round of Great Northeast Athletic Conference tournament play on Saturday evening. The AMCATS finish their season with an overall record of 7-12 and a 2-4 record in the GNAC. Johnson and Wales improves to 7-11 overall and 4-2 in conference play.
