Bio

Dan Mulrooney enters his fifth season on the sidelines as head coach for Anna Maria College. Mulrooney was hired in 2016. 

The 2019 season saw the team finish with their best conference record since 2011 with a  2-3 record in the ECFC. Mulrooney had multiple players have record-breaking seasons in 2019; nine players earn ECFC All-Conference honors, including Rookie of the Year David Robinson (Boston, MA). There were five players that earned earning Worcester Area All-Star honors

In 2017, Mulrooney was recognized by the AFCA as one of the top 35 coaches under 35. A group that consists of coaches from all levels of NCAA football (FCS, FBS, Division II, and Division III).

Mulrooney joined the Anna Maria community following three years serving as the defensive coordinator at Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI), in Worcester MA.

Over his three years as the defensive coordinator at WPI, the team grew immensely. Their defense became one of the top defenses in the Liberty League Conference, and in 2015 WPI had its best season in 23 years (7-4). In 2016, they reached new heights by having its first back to back winning season since 1995. They participated in an ECAC bowl game for only the third time in 126 years.

Mulrooney attended Boston College and was a full scholarship student-athlete for the football program. He played safety for the Eagles and was a part of four bowl games and two ACC Championship games.

After graduating from Boston College in 2011, He finished his playing career with a two-year stint at Stony Brook University. He was the Seawolves leader in tackles in 2011 and was named Team Defensive Newcomer of the Year.  At Stony Brook, he won Two–Big South Titles and helped lead the team to multiple NCAA playoff berths.

Mulrooney was a standout player at Holy Cross High School in Waterbury, Conn. where he was a two-time all-state selection and won a state championship. 

He earned a communications degree from Boston College and a Master's Degree in Liberal Arts from Stony Brook.
