Equestrian Continues to Take Home Blue Ribbons

PAXTON, Mass: The Anna Maria Equestrian team placed at Roger Williams, URI, and UMass Dartmouth over the last two weeks.

 

On the 3rd of November the Equestrian team participated in the Roger Williams meet, with four riders. Ella Smith (Worcester, Mass.) was able to take home another blue ribbon in the Walk Trot event. Katie Barnes (West Brookfield, Mass.) rode in the Beginner Walk Trot Canter taking 3rd place, along with Grace Bond (Medfield, Mass.) who competed in the same even type, but in the Advanced level. Gina Houghton (Paxton, Mass.) also placed at the meet as she took 4th place in the Novice Fences event.

 

This past weekend the team competed in the URI meet, where two riders were able to finish in 1st place. Smith continues her streak extending it to 3 meets in a row where she finished in 1st place for the Walk Trot. Grace Bond also took home the blue ribbon in the Advanced Walk Trot Canter. Houghton competed in two events and placed in both, starting with the Novice Flat where she took 2nd place and 4th in the Novice Fences. Katie Barnes also placed in the meet with a 5th place finish in the beginner Walk Trot Canter.

 

The last competition was the UMass Dartmouth meet where again all riders placed within the top 5. Smith Will go into this coming weekends meets undefeated in the Walk Trot as she took 1st again in this meet. Houghton, Bond, and Barnes all took fourth in their perspective events; Houghton participated in the Novice Flat, and Fences, while Bond competed in the Advanced Walk Trot Canter, and Barnes rode in the same at the Beginner level.

 

The Anna Maria Equestrian team will go into their last meet of the fall semester this weekend as the travel to Assumption.
