Baseball Takes the Bay from Mass Maritime

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass – The Anna Maria Baseball team took down Mass Maritime this afternoon in non-conference action 7-4.

How It Happened

The AMCATS scored four runs in the top of the first to start things off. The First run came when Jake Crevier (Ware, Mass) grounded out and Jackson Dobek (Natick, Mass) scored. The other three runs in the inning scored on a Jason Shell (Sandwich, Mass) triple.

Neither team came across the plate until the bottom of the fourth inning when the Bucs got on the board via a Nick Haley (Hanson, Mass) double, scoring Paul Sances (Middleboro, Mass).

Up three at that point, the 'Cats retook a four-run lead in the fifth on the team's second triple of the game, this time off the bat of Kino Gray (Brewster, Mass). Maritime answered quickly this time, in the bottom of the fifth, scoring two runs to pull within two. First, on a Ben Paine (Dartmouth, Mass) single, scoring AJ Luciano (Lynn, Mass) and then on a Sances sacrifice fly to center field, scoring Bobby Beane (Hignham, Mass).

In the top of the sixth, Crevier drove in two runs for AMC on a single to left centerfield, giving the visitors a four-run lead once again.

Maritime attempted a comeback, scoring a run in the bottom of the eighth frame on a Luciano single, scoring Haley, but that would be all they got in the eighth. In the ninth, the Bucs loaded the bases with one out and were unable to bring any runs home, losing 7-4.
