Baseball Drops Two Versus Lasell

PAXTON, Mass:  The Anna Maria Baseball Team dropped both conference contests against Lasell with scores of 4-2 in game one and 9-2 in game two.  

 

Records: Lasell 12-7, 3-1 GNAC. Anna Maria 8-13, 1-3 GNAC.

 

Game one

 

The Lasers only tallied eight hits in the contest with only one athlete getting a multi-hit game. Evan Michalek was that one on a 2-for-3 day and bating in a game high two RBI's. Chris Maringo was 1-for-3 on the day with an RBI.

 

The AMCATS tied in the hit column with Lasell but wasn't able to push more than the two across. Greg Gehring (Southold, NY) was able to hit in the first with an RBI single for is 1-for-3 day. Gehring would later score on a Jake Montas (Manchester, Conn.) RBI ground out, as he also was 1-for-3.

 

Pitching

 

Zach Handzel went the distance for the Lasers improving him to 4-1 on the season. Zach pitch all seven innings giving up the eight hits and only two earned, with three strikeouts.

 

Colin Pipkin (Peoria, AZ) pitched all six for the AMCATS dropping him to 1-3 on the season. In his six innings of work Pip gave up eight hits with four earned and a strikeout.

Game Two

 

Lasell found their groove in game two while putting up nine runs, four hitters tallied multiple hits. Starting with Jimmy Griffin who was 2-for-4 with a game high four RBI's. David Marsell was 2-for-3 and batted in another two runs, while also scoring twice himself.

 

Anna Maria got started again with a Gehring RBI on a sac fly, followed up by a RBI single for Connor Egan (Modes, Conn.) who was 2-for-3 in the game. Jake Crevier (Ware, Mass.) went 2-for-4 with two doubles, with Montas also getting two hits out of his three at bats.

 

Pitching

 

David Marsell pitched six for the Lasers allowing only six hits and two earned runs. With the win he will improve to 3-1 on the season.

 

Nick Genatossio (Sutton, Mass.) was tagged with the loss dropping him to 0-2 on the season. in his three innings of work he allowed four hits and four earned runs.

 

Up Next

 

The AMCATS will be traveling Monday to Johnson & Wales to play another conference double header. First pitch will be set for 3:00 PM.
