Creamer, Andrade Named Worcester Area All-Stars

Worcester, MA --- Freshman Joshua Creamer (Groveland, Mass.) and junior Corey Andrade (Mashpee, Mass.) have been named to the fourth annual Worcester Area Baseball All-Star team. The team is selected by a vote of sports information directors representing all ten Worcester area colleges and universities. In addition, four major award winners were also named for their respective contributions to the success of their baseball programs.

STANDISH, ME – Saint Joseph’s College (17-7, 8-0 GNAC) won both ends of a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) doubleheader versus Anna Maria College (5-20, 2-12 GNAC) at Larry Mahaney Diamond on Sunday afternoon. The Monks edged the AMCATS, 3-2, in the first game of the day and wrapped up the sweep with a 6-1 triumph in the latter contest.

The loss drops the overall record for Rivier to 0-18 and 0-6 in the GNAC while Anna Maria climbs to 5-12 and 2-4 (GNAC).

WORCESTER, Ma -- The Suffolk University Baseball team swept a Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) doubleheader on Saturday afternoon over the Anna Maria College AMCATS. Suffolk took game one, 10-1 behind a complete game effort by junior Dan Shields (Haverhill, Mass.). In game two, freshman Chuck Gibson (Malden, Mass.) hurled a complete game in his first collegiate start as Suffolk came away with a 6-1 victory.

The Falcons improve to 7-6 on the year and 2-0 in GNAC play with the win, while Anna Maria falls to 3-10 overall and 0-2 in league play.

The ‘Cats fell in the first game, 3-2 and WPI engineered a walk-off 8-7 victory in game two. Through eight games the AMCATS record sits at 2-6.
