Volleyball Drops a Pair to JWU and Emmanuel, 3-0

- PAXTON, MASS: The Anna Maria Volleyball team dropped both conference contests this afternoon against Johnson & Wales and Emmanuel College in the Fuller Center.  

 THE BASICS:

- Date: 9/27/2019

- Score: JWU 3, Anna Maria 0. Set scores 8-25, 12-25, 6-25.

                Emmanuel 3, Anna Maria 0. Set scores 18-25, 14-25, 20-25.

- Records: JWU (11-1, 2-0 GNAC), Emmanuel (5-8, 1-1 GNAC), Anna Maria (2-8, 0-2 GNAC).

MATCH ONE: Johnson & Wales 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

- The Wildcats offense was led by Elisabeth Elbrecht (Owings, MD) and Tiah Scott (Medford, MA), combined they finished with sixteen total kills. Elbrecht just edged past Scott with nine kills to her seven. Mikayla Arimura (San Clemente, CA) took the top spot on the team in assists with eleven, while also finishing with five service aces. 

-  Bella Kozciak (Westfield, MA) finished with the team high in kills for the AMCATS with four. Julia Ramos (Orange, MA) finished with eleven assists tying her with the game high.   

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  JWU tallied 29 kills to the AMCATS 13.

-  Anna Maria also fell short in assists to the Wildcats 25 to 13.

-  Johnson & Wales also accumulated more digs throughout the match with 24 to AMC's 17.

 MATCH TWO: EMMANUEL

 HOW IT HAPPENED:

- Marissa Cataldo (Melrose, MA) finished tied for the game high in Kills for the Saints with six. Rachel Coleman (Peabody, MA) lead the way in assists with another game high of 17.

- The AMCATS were again led by Kozciak who tied Cataldo for the game high of six kills, she also finished with 13 digs and one service ace. Ramos again was the outlet for Anna Maria as she completed twelve of her sets for assists.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

- The 'Cats finished behind the Saints in finishes 26 to 17.

- Emmanuel just edged the AMCATS in digs with 51 to their 51.  

UP NEXT:

- Anna Maria returns to action on the 28^th for another tri-match on the road against Westfield State at 1:00 PM, then they take on Framingham State at 3:00 PM.
