Volleyball Drops two against Suffolk and Curry

PAXTON, Mass: The Anna Maria Volleyball team fell to conference opponent Suffolk and non-conference opponent Curry College today in Boston.

 

Match One:

 

Final score, Suffolk 3, Anna Maria 0. Set scores 25-6, 25-12, and 25-20.

 

The Rams (6-12, 4-3 GNAC) were led by Bridget Allison who topped all scoring with eight kills. She was seconded by Sarah Mullahy who was just one kill short with seven. Suffolk accumulated thirty-three total kills on twenty-seven assists with twenty-four of them coming from Talia Lombardo.

 

The AMCATS (3-19, 0-8 GNAC) Tayler Hoffstedt (Lanesborough, Mass.) was the top offensive option for Anna Maria as she tallied five kills of the teams twelve. Hoffstedt was followed by Abygail Chapdelaine (East Longmeadow, Mass.) as she put together three kills of her own in the contest. Sarah Lathrop (Waterford, Conn.) was credited with eleven assists out of the twelve kills.

 

Match Two:

 

Final score, Curry 3, Anna Maria 0. Set scores 25-9, 25-12, and 25-8.

 

The Colonels (5-13) accumulated forty-one total kills in the contest with thirty-seven assists. Of the forty-one kills twenty-six of them came from two players, Lexi Pereira and Amanda Wood. Pereira led all scorers with fourteen kills, while Wood followed with twelve of her own. Alexis Bell tallied all but one of the assists as she finished with thirty-six.

 

The AMCATS (3-20) were again led by Hoffstedt as she put together four more kills to total nine on the day. Hannah Mitchell (Pittsfield, Mass.) was right behind her as she managed to get three kills of her own. Lathrop added nine more assists to her total on the day to finish with twenty.

 

The AMCATS will be back on the court this Wednesday the 17th as they will travel to Regis to play at 6:00 PM.
