Volleyball Drops Two to Lasell and St. Joseph's (ME)

PAXTON, Mass: The Anna Maria Volleyball team dropped two conference games to the Lasers of Lasell College and the Monks of Saint Joseph's College in the Fuller Center.  

 

Match One:

 

Final score, 3-0, set scores 25-2, 25-12, 25-19.

 

The Lasers (8-12, 5-2 GNAC) had the offense working as they totaled thirty-eight kills in the match. Juliana Denning led Lasell with ten kills in the contest on only fourteen attempts. Olivia Addington was right there with Denning as she was able to accumulated nine kills of her own. Lasers Kelly Cappitella rounded up the top three as she put together an eight kill night. Of the thirty-eight kills twenty-eight were assisted by Jess Langan who also had six digs.

 

The AMCATS (3-14, 0-4 GNAC) were led by freshmen Tayler Hoffstedt (Lanesborough, Mass.) as she tallied five kills with no errors. Freshmen Julia Ramos (Orange, Mass.) finished with seven assists out of the nine kills in the contest.

 

Match Two:

 

Final score: 3-0, set scores 25-14, 25-15, and 25-14.

The Monks (6-11, 3-4 GNAC) came out swinging as they put down thirty-five attack attempts in the contest. Sarah Dyer lead the team with eight of those points and was followed by three others. Erin Olson, Kelsey Bickford, and Olivia Kent all followed with seven kills on the night. Two of the St. Joe's players were responsible for the assists, first was Sophia Randall who tallied the most with fifteen, and Sarah Dyer who put together fourteen of her own.

 

The AMCATS (3-15, 0-5 GNAC) were able to increase their kill total with fourteen in game two. Megan Drew (Upton, Mass.) led the team in scoring as she had five total kills in the contest. Drew was accompanied by senior Sarah Lathrop (Waterford Conn.) who had four kills, and Tayler Hoffstedt (Lanesborough, Mass) who had three. Julia Ramos (Orange, Mass.) was able to assist on ten of the fourteen attempts.

 

Up Next

 

The Lasers will be back on the court this Wednesday the 10th as they take on Norwich starting at 7:00 PM.

 

The Monks will be back the 11th at 6:00 PM as they face the University of New England.

 

Anna Maria is back this Monday the 8th as they go on the road to face the University of Saint Josephs, with action starting at 7:00 PM.
