AMCATS Lose in Straight Sets to MCLA

NORTH ADAMS, Mass – The AMCATS travelled to take on the MCLA Trailblazers on Thursday evening in North Adams in their first match since their victory over Castleton last weekend. The Trailblazers controlled the match from the start and beat the 'Cats in straight sets, 25-13, 25-16, 25-11.

Anna Maria was led by freshman Taylor Hoffstedt (Lanesborough, Mass) who recorded a team high three kills and three service aces for a team high six points in the match. Freshmen Megan Drew (Upton, Mass) and Julia Ramos (Orange, Mass) tied for the team lead in kills with three. Ramos had seven assists on the evening. Senior Victoria Falco (Marlborough, Mass) posted a match high 19 digs.

MCLA were helped by seven kills from Alyssa Keegan and 11 total points from Sara LaFreniere. Lafreniere and Celine Manigbas led the Blazers with 11 digs apiece in the victory.

The AMCATS will be back on the court Saturday morning when they host a tri-match with Great Northeast Athletic Conference opponent Simmon University Sharks and non-conference opponent, Dean College Bulldogs. The first match of the day begins at 10am between the AMCATS and Simmons.
