- The Lead: The Anna Maria College volleyball team fell to the Judges of Brandeis University and the Beacons of Mass.-Boston in the last two matches of the New England Invitational on Saturday afternoon. Junior, Carolina Garcia (Springfield, Mass.) notched her 1,000th career dig over the weekend!

 

HOW IT HAPPENED:

 

AGAINST BRANDEIS (25-17, 25-20, 25-13)

-Senior Rebecca Foti (Bedford, N.H.) led the AMCATS with six kills and 12 digs in the loss. Foti also assisted on one block and posted two service aces in match one of the day. Sarah Lathrop (Waterford, Conn.) followed Foti's lead with four kills of her own, five digs and a block assist.

-Senior Kerri Earle (Bethel, Conn.) recorded a team high 13 assists in match one to go along with an ace.

-Brandeis junior, Shea Decker-Jacoby led all players with 10 kills, hitting a robust .444 for the match. Three other Judges tallied seven kills: junior Kirsten Frauens, freshman Marissa Borger, and freshman Belle Scott.

-Junior Leah Pearlman handled the setting for the first part of the match for the Judges, amassing 22 assists, and rookie Megan Osorio Moran took over midway through, picking up 13 assists of her own.

-Junior Yvette Cho had a match-high 15 digs en route to the victory for Brandeis.

 

AGAINST UMASS. BOSTON (25-17, 25-19, 25-16)

-Despite the loss for the AMCATS, Foti led all players in match two of the day with 11 kills, Earle led all players with 20 assists and Garcia led all players with 16 digs.

-Eileen Shi lifted the Beacons to victory with nine kills while Emilia Czapiewska and Sarah Doyle each posted eight kills of their own.

-Kristina Elliot led the Beacons with four service aces to go along with 13 assists in the victory. Sophomore Sidnee Berch checked in with 15 digs in match two of the day.
