Volleyball Finishes 1-2 at Oswego State Invitational

PAXTON, Mass.—The Anna Maria College volleyball team opened the season at the Oswego State Invitational tournament where they went 1-2, posting a 3-1 victory against the College of New Rochelle and dropping matches to Sage College and Oswego State.

SAGE 3, ANNA MARIA 2

The two teams opened the season with a five-set thriller after Sage won the first and fourth sets and Anna Maria won the second and third sets.

AMCAT junior Rebecca Foti (Bedford, N.H.) led the team with 25 kills, while sophomore Amari King (Lawrence, Mass.) chipped in with 15. Sophomore Carolina Garcia (Springfield, Mass.) paced the defense with 18 digs.

Freshman Tierney Clancy (Meriden, Conn.) dished out 44 assists in her collegiate debut.

ANNA MARIA 3, NEW ROCHELLE 1

Foti again led the AMCATS, this time to victory, in Anna Maria's second match of the tournament. She totaled 14 kills, three service aces and five digs in the victory.

Garcia totaled 23 digs for the AMCATS.

Anna Maria dropped the opening set but rallied to victory in the contest. All four sets were decided by a margin of four points or less. Set scores were 21-25, 25-23, 25-22, and 25-23.

OSWEGO STATE 3, ANNA MARIA 1

The AMCATS totaled just 28 kills to Oswego's 49 kills in the final match of the tournament.

King finished with a team-high 14 kills for Anna Maria, while Foti added 11.

Anna Maria hosts WPI in their home opener on Tuesday, September 6th at 7:00 p.m. The travel to the Western New England Invitational on Saturday, September 10th to take on former head coach Samantha Shomo and the WNE Bears.
