Women's Tennis Improves to 2-0 With Win Over Bay Path

 

LONGMEADOW, Mass.- Bay Path College fell 5-4 Thursday to the AMCATS of Anna Maria College.  The Wildcats saw themselves start out in a 1-2 deficit after the doubles round, before charging back to take a 4-3 lead, but ended in two classic 3 set matches won by Anna Maria who won 5-4. 

 

Bay Path was led by senior Teanna Montoya (Edgartown, Mass.) and partner junior Abigail Janneke (Waterbury, Conn.) won at #3 doubles over senior Katelyn Edelson (Berlin, Conn.) and partner, junior Kayla Buck (Wilbraham, Mass.) , 8-1.

 

AMCAT freshman Jessica Gautieri (North Attleboro, Mass) went undefeated on the day taking the #2 singles 6-0, 6-0 from senior Stephanie Morin.  Gautieri also partnered with junior Nicole Goudreau (Harrisville, RI) in the #1 doubles winning 8-4.

 

Senior  Emily Willamson (Spencer, Mass.) also went undefeated on the day taking the #3 singles in an exciting 3 set match 6-1, 6-7(7-2), 5-4 retired over Brittany Walsh (North Smithfield, R.I.)   Williamson also teamed with Victoria Minotti (Shelton, Conn.)  who defeated Montoya in a dramatic 3 setter 4-6, 6-4, 6-4. 

 

Bay Path will be back in action on Saturday, September 14th at home against NECC Foe Mitchell College at 1 pm.  Anna Maria is up next on September 17 at 4 pm vs. Clark University
