Women’s Soccer: Lady AMCATS Fall to Rams, 3-0

Paxton, Mass. – Suffolk notched three second half goals en route to a 3-0 road victory over Anna Maria College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) women's soccer action on Saturday afternoon at AMCAT Field.

With the loss the Lady AMCATS drop to 4-4-1 (0-3 GNAC), while the Rams move to 2-6 (2-1 GNAC) on the season.

The AMCATS were led by sophomore goalkeeper Teresa Ryan (Shrewsbury, Mass.), freshman Rebecca Mauricio (Tiverton, RI), freshman Paige Leighton (Georgetown, MA) and freshman Rebecca Krasowski (Saugus, Mass).

Ryan recorded 14 saves in the game, including several on excellent scoring chances, while Mauricio, Krasowski and Leighton paced the offence with a shot apiece.

The Rams had a balanced attack all day long receiving goals from three different players. Samantha Burkholder (Toledo, OH), Taylor Miranda (Smithtown, NY) and Katherine Cote (Attleboro, Mass.)  each posted markers on the afternoon.

Rams Binglei Zhou (Shanghai, China) set up Miranda's third goal of the season, 2:58 into the second half. Zhou dribbled down the right wing and fed Miranda in the box who knocked in a low shot left side for a 1-0 advantage. Cote doubled the score in the 63rd minute and Hanna McNulty (Stowe, VT) found Burkholder in the slot in the 72nd minute to round out the scoring.

The Rams outshot Anna Maria in the first half, 17-0, and 35-3 for the game, while also holding a 6-1 edge in corner kicks.

The Crimson & White will return to action next Wednesday when they host Saint Joseph's College (ME) at 4:00 p.m.
