Lady AMCATS Blanked by Lasell in GNAC Play

NEWTON, Mass. (9/14/13) – The Lasell College women's soccer team opened their 2013 Great Northeast Athletic Conference schedule by defeating Anna Maria College 6-0. The Lasers improved to 4-2 overall and 1-0 in the GNAC while Anna Maria slips to 2-2-1 overall and 0-1 in conference play.

Molly Lauver (Cambridge, N.Y.) recorded a pair of goals and an assist for Lasell, Erin Smith (Gorham, Maine) and Devon Day (Hartford, Vt.) each tallied a goal and an assist and Bridget Lynch (Dover, N.H.) and Melissa Leonard (N. Brookfield, Mass.) also scored for the Lasers.

Teresa Ryan (Shrewsbury, Mass.) gave a strong effort in net for Anna Maria, making 15 saves on the afternoon.

Smith opened the scoring for the Lasers in the 13th minute, before Molly Lauver finished a well-placed corner from Devon Day in the 28th minute, then Lauver set-up Melissa Leonard in the 36th minute to give Lasell a 3-0 lead at the half.

The Lasers added three more goals in the final 45 minutes to make the final 6-0 result, while holding a sizeable advantage in shots on the afternoon.

Gina Grimes (Pelham, N.H.) earned the win in goal for Lasell holding AMC scoreless in a half of work, while Caitlin Greco (Higganum, Conn.) recorded a save in the second half to combine for the shutout.

Lasell will be off until Saturday September 21st when they will visit Albertus Magnus for a 1:00 p.m. fixture while Anna Maria will be back in action on Wednesday September 18th at 4:00 p.m. at Newbury College.
