Bay Path Takes Battle of 'Cats

LONGMEADOW, Mass.- Wildcats sophomore midfielder Keelin Dougherty (Northfield, N.H.) tallied the game winner for Bay Path in a 2-1 victory over NCAA DIII regional opponent Anna Maria in a wet and soggy day for women's soccer at Ryan Field.

Wildcats sophomore midfielder Emily Serrano (Savoy, Mass.) struck first in the 40th minute of play driving the ball solo from the half to score the first goal of the game. Serrano notched her first goal of the season unassisted.

Coming out from the half, head coach Nick Chapman subbed two out to play a man down in the second half to make the squad even with the AMCATS who only had a ten man roster today.

Dougherty scored the eventual game winning shot on a left footed boot past the Amcats senior keeper Amanda Hevy (North Brookfield, Mass.). Sophomore midfielder Omisis Agbe-Ranke (Lowell, Mass.) had the assist.

Anna Maria's junior forward Erica Neugarten (Natick, Mass.) broke up sophomore keeper Melina Isdith's (Rego Park, N.Y.) shut-out in the 72nd minute driving down the field IVI scoring for the Amcats.

Isdith finished with one save facing five shots and two on goal, while Hevy suffered the loss facing 26 shots, 16 on goal with 14 saves.

Bay Path is now 2-6 on the season, while Anna Maria falls to 0-11 overall. The Wildcats will travel to Brookline, Mass. on Saturday, October 1st for a 1:00 p.m. match against NECC rival Newbury.
