Women’s Lacrosse: AMCATS Downed by Cadets

NORTHFIELD, Vt.—Fifteen different players scored to lead the Norwich University women's lacrosse team to a 21-1 win against the AMCATS of Anna Maria College on Tuesday evening in Great Northeast Athletic Conference action.

 

With the win, the Cadets improve to 5-2 overall and in GNAC play, while the loss drops the AMCATS to 0-9 on the season and 0-7 in league play.

 

Junior Hope Royce (Washington, Vt.) led the Cadets with a game-high three goals and two assists, while classmate Gina Conroy (Amherst, N.H.) chipped in with three goals and an assist. Senior Grace Fitzpatrick (Falmouth, Maine) and freshman Chapel Guarnieri (Pepperell, Mass.) both scored twice.

 

Five different members of the Norwich roster netted their first goal of the season, including, seniors Emily Shrum (Park Hill, Md.) and Caitlyn Trepess (Scotia, N.Y.), sophomore Caroline Manning (Duxbury, Mass.), and freshmen Hannah Mesh (Chelsea, Vt.) and Kasey Jacobs (Killingworth, Conn.).

 

Anna Maria's lone goal was scored by Brittany Jackson (Mamaroneck, N.Y.).

 

Guarnieri led Norwich on draw controls with three, while Jackson recorded three for the AMCATS. Manning scooped up a team-high four ground balls for the Cadets and caused three turnovers. Amy Clement (Townsend, Mass.) totaled four ground balls for Anna Maria.

 

Anna Maria returns to action on Thursday, April 10 when they host Wheelock College at 7:00 p.m. non-conference matchup.
