Women's Hockey Outlasted in OT

PAXTON, Mass: The Anna Maria Women's Hockey team fell to Post University in an overtime thriller 4-3 this evening in Waterbury Connecticut.

 

Post (4-10) started the game off on a 2-0 run with the first goal coming at the beginning of the first period from Kayleigh Miller on a pass from Molly Brumfield. The Eagles would strike again at the same time into the second period as Hannah Davis was able to find the back of the net, off of a feed from Anna Estes.

 

The AMCATS (1-6) would answer 7 minutes later with their first score of the contest, as Sophia Zimmerman (Crystal, Minn.) was able to beat the Post goaltender. Just 3 minutes Later Juianne Nelson (Armstrong, BC) was able to put the puck in the net as well for her third goal of the year and to tie the game up at 2-2.

 

The Eagles would go back up 3-2 just before going into the third period when Julia Schatz from Sierra Alarid and Kayleigh Miller would find a way to score a shorthanded goal 17 minutes into the second period.

 

The third period was quiet for the first 13 minutes until Nelson found the back of the net for the second time in the game coming off of a pass from Mackenzie Turcotte (Kenora, ON) to tie the game up at 3-3, and send it into overtime.

 

It only took Kathleen Takita a minute and a half to end the game as she finished on another pass from Kayleigh Miller.

Gabi Ohanesian (Bozemen, MT) (L, 1-3) 4 goals allowed, 50 saves.
