Women's Basketball Falls to Eastern Nazarene

PAXTON, MASS: The Anna Maria Women's Basketball team fell to nonconference opponent Eastern Nazarene this afternoon in the Fuller Center.

 THE BASICS:

- Date: 11/23/2019

Score: Eastern Naz 68, Anna Maria 59.

Records: Eastern Naz (3-1), Anna Maria (3-3)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  Both teams struggled throughout the contest to get open shots against each other's defense. Eastern Naz finished the contest shooting 32.4%, while Anna Maria shot 34.4% from the field.

-  The First half was closely contested with the Lions only taking a one-point lead going into the half at 29-28.

- The second half leaned in Eastern Nazarene's way after Stevie Orton dropped 20 points of her 32 in the half. She finished the contest with the 32 points and 13 rebounds completing a double-double.

- Kyra Fleharty also tallied 17 points for the lions off the bench along with 9 rebounds.

- Hailey Moore (Worcester, MA) finished as the AMCATS top scorer with 13 points along with 6 rebounds.    

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  The AMCATS were out rebounded by Eastern Naz 41 to 54.

-  The Lions had 16 assists to Anna Maria's 12.

-  The AMCATS shot 27.3% from the 3-point line, Eastern Naz only hit 14.8% of their 3-point attempts.

- Anna Maria returns to action on the 26th as they remain at home against Clark University with tipoff set for 4 pm.
