Women's Basketball Partakes In Mary Beth Benison Foundation 5K

PAXTON, MA - Last Sunday, the AMCATS women's basketball team participated in the Mary Benison Foundation 5K charity race in Worcester, MA. The event raised funds for the Mary Beth Benison Foundation, which provides financial assistance to ALS patients and families. "We were honored to help the community," said Anna Maria women's basketball assistant coach, Luis Frias. We have run this race in the past, and always look forward to getting the chance as it is for a good cause, and great team bonding."

ABOUT THE MARY BETH BENSON FOUNDATION

Over a 15 year period, Mary Beth Benison overcame numerous health challenges but in 2014 she was diagnosed with two terminal illnesses, mesothelioma, and ALS. Her ability to fight and remain strong through this devastating news was inspiring to many. Mary Beth often expressed how grateful she was to have the support of family and friends.  She had tremendous compassion and knew how difficult it was when dealing with an illness and she wanted to find a way to help.

The foundation was started as a way to continue her legacy of kindness, love, and compassion.
