Softball Drops a Pair to Suffolk

PAXTON, Mass: The Anna Maria Softball team was swept this afternoon by conference opponent Suffolk University 11-0 and 7-0.

 

Records: Suffolk 19-14, 9-3 GNAC. AMC 3-20, 0-12 GNAC.

 

The Rams came out of the gate swinging, scoring in every inning in the shortened mercy rule contest. Kelly Keane led the way with a three hit ball game, including two RBI's and one run scored. Hailey Cockroft was also able to bat in a pair on her two hits while scoring once herself. The last top performer for the Suffolk was Grace Boehler, who was 1-for-2 and two runs batted in.

 

The AMCATS were only able to get three hits in the contest, those coming from Ashley Garcia (Cornwall, NY), Michelle Cilley (Dracut, Mass.), and Alyssa Casalino (Providence, RI).

 

Pitching

 

Constance Phelan got the win after her five innings of work. She allowed just the three hits with no earned and seven strikeouts.

 

Victoria Falco suffers the loss with four innings pitched, eleven hits, and eight earned runs.

 

Game Two

 

Game two went the full distance as AMCAT Pitcher Ashley Garcia was able to keep the Suffolk batters off balance. Garcia only gave up nine hits with only five earned runs. The only person she could not get out was McKenzie McGrath, who was 3-for-4 with five of the six Rams RBI's.

 

Anna Maria only got one hit which came in the seventh inning with one out, Garcia was able to break up Hannah DelCervo's no hitter with a bloop single up the middle. DelCervo pitch a great game, going all seven with only one walk, one hit, and had eleven strikeouts.

 

Up Next

 

The AMCATS will look to play Saturday on the road at Lasell College, with first pitch coming at noon.
