Softball Swept by Falcons

PAXTON, Mass: The Anna Maria Softball team dropped both games against conference opponent Albertus Magnus 18-3 and 9-0 this afternoon.

 

Records: AMC 16-16, 5-7 GNAC. ANM 3-18, 0-10 GNAC.

 

The Falcons were lead in game one by Jess Stettinger, who poked a grand slam to tally her four RBI's on the day. Aubrey Defoe also pushed across four runs, with scoring once herself on one hit. Kayla Resto had the game high in hits with a perfect game from the plate at 4-for-4 with three runs scored and three batted in. Laura Anderson also pushed in three runs on her two hits, while also scoring a pair.

 

The AMCATS combined for five hits in game one, the only RBI was given to Victoria Falco (Marlborough, Mass.) who was 1-for-2. Ashley Garcia (Cornwall, NY) was also 1-for-2 in the contest as she accounted for two of Anna Maria's runs.

 

Pitching

 

Anderson Pitched all five innings for Albertus with only allowing the five hits with one earned.

 

Garcia suffers the loss after allowing five hits and nine earned runs in one and one third innings.

 

Game Two

 

Albertus had another homerun in game two, off of the bat of Kayla Gosselin who was just shy of an inside the park homerun as well. Gosselin was 2-for-2 with one run scored and a trio of runs batted in. Freshmen Maddison LaBossiere picked up two hits, one coming in as a triple and the other a double. LaBossiere batted in two runs for the Falcons while also scoring once.

 

Anna Maria was only able to pick up two hits in the six innings of play. Garcia and Mackenzie Morin (North Smithfield, RI) both got one hit in game two.

 

Pitching

 

Erin Dighello pitched all six for the Falcons allowing no runs with two hits and ten punch outs.

 

Falco made it through all six innings with ten hits allowed and only four earned runs.

 

Up Next

 

The AMCATS will be back on the field tomorrow as they play another conference game against Suffolk at home with action beginning at 3 PM.
