PROVIDENCE, RI – The Anna Maria softball team was swept in a conference doubleheader by Johnson & Wales 16-1, in game one and 19-2 in the nightcap on Friday.

Records:
Anna Maria: 2-15, 0-8
Johnson & Wales: 17-15, 9-3 GNAC

Statistical Leaders:

Michelle Cilley (AMC): 2-3, 1 R (GM 1)
Ashley Garcia (AMC): 1-1, 2 R (GM 2)

Of Note:
The Wildcats set the tone in the bottom of the first as they sent 12 batters to the plate. Megan Antaya led off the inning with a triple then added another triple later in the inning.

Johnson & Wales squashed any hopes of an AMCATS comeback with seven runs in the fourth. Relief pitcher MJ Bourgeois helped her own cause with a two-run single.

Bourgeois gave up one run on three hits with three strikeouts in three innings of work to get her second win. AMC starter Mackenzie Morin took the loss.

Anna Maria opened game two by scoring run without a base hit. JWU starter Summer Ramundo hit two batters and walked two more.

JWU quickly erased that deficit by scoring 10 runs in the bottom of the first. Twice Meghan Gavin drove in Antaya with two singles. Antaya had a pair of singles herself in the first as she has produced a hit in eight-straight at-bats and reached base in 10-straight plate appearance.

Zoe Jennings came on in third and finished the game to get her fourth victory. She surrendered one run on four hits with four strikeouts.

Up Next:

The AMCATS will be back on the field Monday for another conference doubleheader against Albertus Magnus with first pitch coming at 3:00 PM.
