Softball Sweeps Hornets

PAXTON, Mass: The Anna Maria Softball team defeated the Northern Vermont University-Lyndon Hornets this afternoon in two games by scores of 9-1 and 12-4 in non-conference action.

 

Records: NVU 0-12, AMC 2-9.

 

Game One

 

The Hornets were led by Madeline DeGroot who was 3-for-3 in game one with Amber Roberts getting the only NVU RBI on her one hit. Meghan Campo also tallied a couple of hits out of her four at bats.

 

The AMCATS Kayla Magierowski (Brimfield, Mass.) powered the offense with three hits and a game high three RBI's and even scored one run. Amber Wilson (New York, NY) was a perfect 2-for-2, while scoring two AMC runs. Ashley Garcia (Cornwall, NY) also put up two hits out of her three at bats while crossing the plate for another pair of runs.

 

Pitching

 

Garcia got the win for the 'CATS improving her to 1-2 on the season. She pitched a complete six innings giving up only eight hits with one earned run and five strikeouts.

 

Amber Roberts will suffer the loss and fall to 0-7 on the season after five and two thirds allowing ten hits with seven earned runs and two strikeouts.

 

Game Two

 

Cassandra Black got a team high two RBI's on her one hit, she also came around to score two more runs for the Hornets. Roberts again tallied a pair of hits out of her three plate appearances, with a run batted in.

 

Sabrina Carreira (West Harford, Conn.) accumulated the most hits for the AMCATS in game two with three, along with an RBI and two runs scored. Magierowski plated two more to give her a total of five runs batted in on the day.

 

Pitching

 

Victoria Falco (Marlborough, Mass.) got the win in game two putting her at 1-5 on the year. Falco throw five innings allowing only six hits and four earned runs.

 

Emma Moore will be tagged with her second loss of the season as she is now 0-2. Moore gave up eleven hits and twelve runs with only six coming as earned.

 

Up Next

 

The AMCATS will be back in action this Saturday against Albertus Magnus at home with a 12 PM start time.
