NASHUA, N.H – After dropping two games to Johnson & Wales on Saturday, the AMCATS traveled to Nashua on Sunday to continue their conference schedule against the Raiders of Rivier University. While they were able to keep game one close, the 'Cats ended the day dropping both games to their hosts, 5-0 and 16-2 in five innings.

Game 1

In game one, the AMCATS got four hits, all from different players. Amanda Lemire, Sabrina Carreira, Hannah Trudo, and Lauren Lapierre, all hit singles in the game. Starting pitcher Victoria Falco pitched six innings, giving up just four hits, five runs, but only one earned. She walked two and struck out one hitter.

The Raiders also had four hits in game one with four different players, Julia Dailey, Mikayla Ramsdell, Taylor Rowsell, and Kellie Kennedy recording hits in the game. Dailey and Rowsell each had a double and Rowsell scored two runs. Ramsdell, Rowsell, and Jess Silva each had RBI in the 5-0 win.

Neither team scored in the first inning but, the Raiders opened the scoring in the bottom of the second as Rowsell scored her first run after stealing third base and then scoring on a throwing error by the AMC catcher to give Rivier a 1-0 lead.

In the bottom of the third, Rivier added another run as Morgan Pratt scored on a fielder's choice off the bat of Ramsdell.

In the bottom of the sixth, Rivier added their final three runs on an AMCAT error, scoring two runs and then on a Silva ground out to short scoring Rowsell.

The AMCATS weren't able to answer in the seventh and the home team took game one 5-0 from the 'Cats.

Game 2

The AMCATS got four hits in the game with a multi-hit performance from Kayla Magierowski who was two-for-three in the game. Amanda Lemire and Jacqueline Lapierre each added a hit and each drove in a run in the game. Gabriella Eldredge scored both of the 'Cats runs in the game after coming in in a pinch running appearance.

Rivier scored their 16 runs on 15 hits with multi-hit games from Kasey Smith, Mikayla Ramsdell, Tayla Legrand, Taylor Rowsell, and Evelyn Susko. Legrand and Rowsell each went three-for-four in the game with two RBI and two runs scored. Ramsdell drove in three Rivier runs while also scoring twice. Starting pitcher, Rowsell pitched all five innings, allowing the four hits, two runs, both earned. She walked one and struck out four Anna Maria hitters.

The Raiders scored 11 of their runs in the first two innings, plating eight in the first, three in the second, taking the 11-0 lead after two.

In the top of the third, the AMCATS got on the board on a J. Lapierre single that score Eldredge. Rivier would be blanked for the only time in the third, now leading 11-1 heading to the fourth.

The AMCATS were unable to build on their third inning and in the bottom of the fourth the Raiders added five more runs to their 10-run lead and now held a 15-run, 16-1 lead.

Anna Maria plated their second in the top of the fifth on a Lemire single, scoring Eldredge, but it wasn't enough as the AMCATS would be retired and lose game two by run rule, 16-1 to fall to 0-12 on the season.

The AMCATS will be back on the diamond on Saturday, March 31st, continuing conference play, against Suffolk University at 12pm and 2pm. The games will be played on the campus of Johnson & Wales University in Providence.
