Waynesburg Blanks AMCATS Under the Lights

NAPLES, Florida – Following a tremendous opening game to the season that saw the AMCATS fall to Albion College in eight innings by a score of 15-14, Waynesburg University took advantage of a tired Anna Maria team and shut the team out 14-0 in four innings.

Anna Maria could never get anything started in this game. Only two hitters, Jacqueline LaPierre (Worcester, Mass) and Victoria Falco (Marlborough, Mass) reached second base or better. The 'Cats could only muster four hits in the game, two coming off the bat of J. Lapierre, both singles in the first and the third.

Waynesburg's Courtney Syfert scored three runs in the game, two coming off of home runs in the third and fourth. Five spots in the Yellowjackets lineup scored multiple times and the game allowed the Waynesburg staff to rotate bench players in in the middle innings.

The AMCATS never had more than five players go to the plate in a given inning though they only went down in order once.

Waynesburg scored two runs in the first inning which would prove to be the winning runs as the AMCATS were never able to score. Though Waynedsburg went down in order in the second, they would send nine hitters to the plate in the third inning and score five runs, and then send 11 hitters up in the fourth and plate seven more.

The AMCATS would get their last at-bat in the fifth to try and get some runs back but went down in order and were run ruled by Waynesburg, 14-0 in 5 innings.

The AMCATS will be back in action tomorrow afternoon at 3 and 5 pm taking on Geneva and Penn State-Altoona.
