Lady AMCATS Fall to Franciscan, Transylvania

Clermont, Fla – The Anna Maria College softball team fell to Franciscan, 4-3 in game one and lost to Transylvania, 18-0 in game two during Spring Break action at the Dot Richardson Invitational in Clermont, Florida. With the pair of losses the AMCATS dip to 0-8 on the season.

 

GAME ONE: Anna Maria 3, Franciscan 4

 

In the opening contest third basemen Samantha Miller went 2-for-3 with a run scored and a walk, while freshman Kayla Garczynski was 1-for-3 with 2 RBI's and a walk. Junior Nichole Lowe added a double while allowing three runs on four hits with a strikeout in four innings of work in the circle.

 

The AMCATS plated the first run of the game in the opening frame. With the bases loaded AMC capitalizing on an error by the Franciscan third-basemen to take a 1-0 lead.

 

With AMCATS on second and third in the third frame, Garczynski delivered a 2-RBI single scoring Justine Lalonde and Miller to give AMC 3-0 advantage.

 

Franciscan pushed three run across the plate in the bottom of the fourth inning to level the game at 3-all and earned the victory scoring on a pass ball in the bottom of the seventh.

 

GAME TWO: Anna Maria 0, Transylvania 18

 

 

Juniors Nichole Lowe and Cristina Turley combined for two hits, and three stole bases as Anna Maria fell to Transylvania 18-0 on Thursday afternoon.

 

Transylvania answered with three runs in the first, four runs in the second and put the game away with an eleven run third inning.
