Cross Country Competes at Golden Bear Invitational

SPRINGFIELD, Mass.—Sophomore Ashley Eccleston (Plymouth, Mass.) posted a time of 21:31.88 to lead the Anna Maria College women's cross country team to an 11th place finish at the Golden Bear Invitational, hosted by Western New England College, on Saturday morning.

The AMCATS' 11-th place finish put them in the top half of the 22-team race. Eccleston was the 43rd runner overall to cross the finish line. Sophomore Maureen Moore (Newbury, Mass.) finished second for the AMCATS with a time of 21:59.97. She was the 57th runner to cross the line, and finished 13 slots ahead of freshman Ashley Bricault (Cumberland, R.I.). Bricault ran the five-kilometer race in a time .f 22:28.00.

Senior Kelsey Donelly (Lakeville, Mass.) posted a time of 24:10.44, while freshmen Shannon Latour (Millbury, Mass.) and Kayla Odegaard (Milton, Mass.) crossed the line with times of 25:07.31 and 25:14.31, respectively.

The race was won by Roger Williams, who has four of the top 15 finishers, including race winner Hannah Zydanowicz, who was one of three runners to finish with a time under 20 minutes. Salve Regina finished in second, followed by Colby-Sawyer, Gordon, and Eastern Connecticut State.

On the men's side, the AMCATS only posted two times; Patrick Clarke (Pomfret, Conn.) finished the eight-kilometer race in 29:06.59, while Daniel Jodrey (Paxton, Mass.) recorded a time of 31.27.91.

The men's race was also won by Roger Williams. Southern Vermont finished in second, while Colby-Sawyer, Gordon, and Worcester State rounded out the top five.

The AMCATS are idle until November 1, when they travel to St. Joseph's College in Maine for the Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) Invitational. The women's race will start at 1:00 p.m., followed by the men's race at 2:00 p.m.
