Tennis Ends Season with 8-1 Loss to Suffolk
Paxton, Mass. – Freshman standout Dillon George (Holden, Mass.) posted the AMCATS only win of the day as the Suffolk Rams downed Anna Maria College 8-1 in Great Northeast Athletic Conference (GNAC) men's tennis action on Sunday afternoon at Paxton Sports Center.
George downed Rams number one Marc Winkler 6-2, 7-6 (7-4) to earn the point for the AMCATS.
The Rams opened up the afternoon sweeping the doubles matches. The number one Rams tandem of Winkler/Dachuan Zhu clipped George/Calvin Weeks 8-4, while the AMC's second and third flight pairings were shutout 8-0 by Suffolk.
Weeks dropped a close match at the No. 2 seed to Calixto Romero, 7-6 (7-4), 6-3, and senior Ben Chick-Reny fell to Zhu 7-6 (7-4), 6-3 at the third spot.
At number four, senior Cody Brigham was ousted by Vassilli Stroganov, 6-1, 6-2.
Anna Maria finished the season with a 1-8 overall record and a 1-4 conference mark. Suffolk moves to 5-6 (3-2 GNAC).
