Men's Soccer Draws With Blue Jays 1-1

WEST HARTFORD, CT - On Saturday, October 12th the Anna Maria College men's soccer team traveled to West Hartford, CT to take on the University of Saint Joseph Blue Jays for a Great Northeast Athletic Conference matchup. The AMCATS tied the game 1-1.

After a nearly deadlocked first half, the AMCATS were the first to strike with a goal from Rubelsi Moran with under a minute left to play in the half. Morans goal would give the AMCATS a 1-0 lead going into halftime. After holding onto the lead for almost 33 minutes, the AMCATS would end up allowing the game tying goal off a shot from Mario Milardo. Tied up at one goal a piece, both teams would fight hard for a chance to take over the lead, however neither team would find the back of the net before the clock hit zero resulting in the AMCATS first tie of the season.

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:

  • Rubelsi Moran continues to lead the GNAC in goals and points as he scored his 11th goal of the season for his 24th point.
  • Despite the tie, the AMCATS still sit in fourth place in the GNAC standings.
  • Moran has had more than half of the AMCATS 20 goals so far this season.
  • Moran is also tied for 11th in the NCAA for goals per game.
