Men’s Soccer Falls Short to Elms in First Spring Contest

- CHICOPEE, MASS: The Anna Maria men's soccer team played their first contest since October 30th of 2019, falling to nonconference opponent Elms College this afternoon 5-1.

 THE BASICS:

- Date: 4/11/2021

- Score: Elms 5, Anna Maia 1

- Records: Elms (2-1-1), Anna Maria (0-1)

HOW IT HAPPENED:

-  The Blazers took a quick 1-0 lead just 7:47 into the first half on a Justin Szwajkowski goal. The AMCATS tied it back up in the 22nd minute of the opening half when they scored their only goal of the contest from Hezekiah Adeyeye (Woonsocket, RI).

-  The first half would end with Elms scoring two more to take a 3-1 lead into the half.

-  The second half consisted of two more Blazer goals giving them the 5-1 advantage until time ran out.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

-  Brandon McLean was in net for Elms getting the win after seeing just 2 shots on goal.

-  AMCAT Keeper Kyle Sherman (Mount Laurel, NJ) took the loss after seeing 12 shots on goal and saving 7 of them.
