Men's Soccer Falls to Monks

PAXTON Mass: The Anna Maria Men's soccer team lost Saturday evening to nationally ranked 15th St. Josephs College of Maine 4-0 on AMCAT Field despite a 19 save performance from Goalie Jeffre Donahue.    

 

St. Joseph's College (12-0, 8-0 GNAC), Anna Maria College (2-9-1, 0-6-1 GNAC)

 

First Half:

 

The Monks would strike first in the 20th minute with a Noah Robinson goal, as he was able to follow up a post ball from teammate Brett Mattos. AMCAT goalie Jeffre Donahue (Rockland, Mass) was able to stave off another St. Joe's goal as he would make a total of 10 saves in the first half.   

 

Second Half:

 

In the 52nd minute after another two great saves by Donahue, the Monk's Mitchell Duncan would score on a pass from Brett Mattos for his second assist of the game. The Monks would add on a third goal in the 67th minute when Simon Berry would get a red card for a slide tackle in the box forcing a penalty kick by Noah Robinson who was able to convert. Six minutes later in the 73rd minute St. Joseph's would get another penalty kick goal from Dalton Gaumer expanding the lead to 4-0.

The Monks will travel to conference opponent Norwich on October 10th for a 7PM kickoff.

 

Anna Maria will be back on the field to host Albertus Magnus College on October 10th at 4PM in conference action.
