Bison Roll Past AMCATS, 6-1

Paxton, Mass. - The Anna Maria College men's soccer team was defeated today 6-1 by the visiting Bison of Nichols College in non-conference action at AMCAT Field. The Bison's record pushes to 9-5 while the AMCATS drop to 2-11-1.

Nichols scored three first half and three second half goals from six different players in the win.

Sophomore Casey Doig (Spofford, NH) scored the Bison's first goal of the afternoon with an unassisted shot to the upper left corner that just snuck under the crossbar. Senior Scott Coderre (Thompson, Conn) set-up the next two goals for Nichols, he first found Thomas Miller with a cross from the wing for Miller's first goal of the season, then what look liked a shot to the post ricocheted off Andrew Conkin's head for the 3-0 lead.

The AMCATS' cut the lead to 3-1 just before halftime. After a Nichols foul Anna Maria has a direct kick from just outside the 45 yard line, senior Enco Lika (Worcester, Mass.) perfectly placed a shot to the outside post that sophomore captain Bryan Blomgren (Auburn, Mass.) headed cross corner for the goal.

Nichols proved to be too much down the stretch and added goals by Tiago Prazeres, Donny Whittle and Christian Cole in the second half for the 6-0 victory.

In between the pipes, both teams split the duty on the day. AMCAT Scott Webster (Ocala, FLA) and Andrew Dahl (Marlton, NJ) combined for nine saves in the loss, while Doug Levine and Francesco Chiaravalloti made one save in the win.

The AMCATS are back in action on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Emmanuel College for a 3:00pm GNAC showdown with the Saints.
