Lasers Outlast AMCATS, 2-0

Paxton, Mass. – Anna Maria College men's soccer was downed 2-0 by the Lasell College Lasers today in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference match on Saturday afternoon.

The AMCAT defense did an outstanding job in keeping the conference leading Lasers within striking distance throughout the game.  Freshman goalie Scott Webster (Ocala, FL) made nine saves on the day.

AMCAT freshman Devaunte Maynes (Bellport, NY) led the AMCATS with two shots on goal.

The Mariners scored the games' first goal off a breakaway, as junior Mike Skelton (Conway, NH) lofted a well placed shot over Webster, who came out to challenge him at the 14th minute mark in the first half.  Lasell doubled their lead in the 26th minute when junior Jared Lewis (Haverhill, MA) fed sophomore Ryan Montemurro (Meriden, CT), who blasted home a shot right in front of the AMCAT goal.

Despite being down 2-0 to start the second half, the AMCATs worked hard to keep themselves in the game, keeping the Lasers off the scoreboard for the rest of the match.  Ultimately, the Lasers were able to handle the AMCATs offensive chances, and sophomore goalie Aren Moorman (Somerset, NJ) was able to post his second shutout of the season while making two saves on the day.

The AMCATS return to action on Monday, October 8th when they host St. Joseph's College in a Conference match at 1:30 PM.
