Men's Soccer Falls to Mass. Maritime, 6-0

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. --  Freshman Connor McInnis (Duxbury, Mass.) netted his first two collegiate goals and added an assist for five points to lead Massachusetts Maritime to a 6-0 non-league college men's soccer victory over Anna Maria Thursday evening at Clean Harbors Stadium.
McInnis set up senior Adam Vieira (New Bedford, Mass.) for the only tally that the host Buccaneers (5-3-1) would need in the 20th minute of play before collecting his first collegiate marker just 58 seconds later to extend that margin to 2-0.  Sophomore Rob Robbs (Braintree, Mass.) gave Massachusetts Maritime a 3-0 edge in the 26th minute when he converted a feed from junior Hieu Nguyen (Weymouth, Mass.), and freshman Taylor Sjoberg (Mansfield, Mass.) netted his first collegiate goal on a breakaway off a Vieira pass with 2:03 remaining in the opening half to give the hosts a 4-0 cushion at the break.  McInnis added his second tally of the night on Vieira's third assist in the 68th minute for the Buccaneers, and freshman Ryan Culp's (Centreville, Md.) first collegiate marker in the 73rd minute of action closed out the scoring.
Vieira matched McInnis with a five-point performance in the triumph for Massachusetts Maritime, as senior Patrick Slaney (Northbridge, Mass.) picked up the win and his third career shutout in goal for the hosts with a pair of saves.  Freshman Scott Webster (Ocala, Fla.) made 10 stops in the opening half of action in the setback for the visiting Amcats (2-6-1), who also received five second half saves from fellow freshman Andrew Dahl (Marlton, N.J.) as the Buccaneers outshot Anna Maria by a 25-4 margin.

Massachusetts Maritime hosts Fitchburg State in a Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference match on Saturday afternoon at Clean Harbors Stadium beginning at Noon, while Anna Maria hosts Johnson & Wales in a Great Northeast Athletic Conference outing on Saturday afternoon in Paxton, Mass. beginning at 1:30 p.m.
