Men's Soccer: Falcons Swipe AMCATS

Paxton, Mass -  Senior Stephen Zapata (Hamden, Conn) and junior Dan Dwyer each tallied a pair of goal to lead the visiting Falcons of Albertus College to a 7-0 shutout victory over host Anna Maria College in Great Northeast Athletic Conference men's soccer action at AMCAT Field. Anna Maria's record drops to 2-3-1 (0-2-1 GNAC) while AMC improves to 6-1 and remain undefeated in conference action at 4-0.

AMCAT netminder Andrew Dahl (Marlton, NJ) at times spectacular in between the pipes, had 11 saves in the contest. Senior Enco Lika (Worcester, Mass.) led the home team with 4 shots.

The Falcons scores three goals in the first ten minutes of the match to seal the victory. Senior James Luccesi (Norwalk, Conn.) got the ball rolling for Albertus tipping the twine at 4:07, less than a minute later Zapata scored his first goal of the game with a perfect strike from the right wing. Freshman Alex Zapata (Hamden, Conn.) rounded out the trifecta at 7:39 with goal number four on the season.

Dan Dwyer and Carson Brown each notched their first goals of the season to end the first half.                 

The AMCATS return to action on Saturday afternoon when they travel to Norwich University for a 3:00pm showdown, Albertus Magnus also tips-off at 3:00 pm at Rivier College.
