AMCATS Blank Becker, 4-0

LEICESTER, MASS. – Becker College fell to Anna Maria College 4-0 in non-conference men's soccer action Thursday afternoon at Alumni Field. The win lifts the AMCATS record to 2-2, while Becker falls to 1-5.

 The AMCATS got on the board 35 minutes into the game when Jeff Fletcher (Oxnard, Calif.) split the Becker defense with a long centering pass, allowing Andrei Escobar (Naples, Fla.) to break free all alone for the 1-0 advantage. Anna Maria increased their lead to 2-0 when Devaunte Maynes (Bellport, N.Y.) laced a penalty shot into the top right corner of the net. With just two seconds remaining in the first half, Enco Lika (Worcester, Mass.) connected with Fletcher, giving the AMCATS  a commanding 3-0 lead at the break.

 The score remained the same until the 89^th minute when Maynes scored his second goal of the game on an assist from Escobar, giving Anna Maria the 4-0 win.

 Anna Maria goalie Andrew Dahl (Marlton, NJ) turned away six shots, earning his second shutout of the season. The AMCATS return to action on Saturday, September 15^th when they host Rivier College at 1:30pm.

 Becker keeper Albert Tabor (Willimantic, Conn.) made three saves in a losing effort. The Hawks will try to get back on track on Saturday, September 15^th when they host Bard College at 3pm.
