Lika Leads AMCATS to 11-0 Win Over Falcons

PAXTON, MA – The sun shone down on AMCAT field today as the Anna Maria Men's Soccer team's scorching hot offense blazed past the Fisher College Falcons for an 11-0 win.

The AMCATS got their first win of the season, bringing them to 1-2 on the year. The Falcons are now 0-2.

The AMCATS struck quickly and in a high quantity, finding the back of the net nine times in the first half of play alone. Senior striker Enco Lika (Worcester, MA) led the team in scoring with four goals and one assist. An additional three goals were added by freshman midfielder Jeff Fletcher (Oxnard, CA), and two players scored two goals a piece: freshman striker Andrei Escobar (Naples, FL) and junior midfielder Joe Cotrona (Southbridge, MA). Two beautiful assists were delivered to Fletcher and Cotrona by sophomore Center Back Ryan Goehring (Hampton, NJ).

A lot of pressure was put on freshman goalkeeper Steven Masterson (Berkley, MA). With his team playing two players short, Masterson was all over the place, managing to dig out 10 saves. Despite the Falcons' considerable effort, they did not quite have the manpower to turn this one in to a game.

The Anna Maria Men's Soccer team travels to play the Becker Hawks at Alumni Field in Leicester, MA at 4:00 pm.
